Your passport will be sent to you through email or airmail, which makes your travel preparations faster and easier. After you turn either 20 or 45 years old, your internal passport expires on your birthday and you have 30 days to apply for a new one. If you don’t apply within this time frame, you will be fined by the Ministry of Internal Affairs. The amount of the fine depends on the region. It could be between 2,000 and 5,000 rubles.

If you are going to travel using your Russian travel passport, make sure to check the expiration day which can be found on the next row after the issue date. Some foreign countries have special requirements about how long the passport should be valid for when applying for a visa or entering that country. Please note, that it’s not recommended to get 10-year passports for children under the age of 6.
